Burger King Complaint - I want a Whopper! - Drive-Thru
ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS -- 1138 E State St
On a couple of occasions I've attempted to visit this location, only to drive off before ordering because the wait was so long. I've also witnessed many others driving off and wondered how much business they lost each day due to their slow service. Today I decided to find out just how long it would take to get a Whopper meal during the lunch rush and document the experiece. I pulled up to the drive thru lane at... well I didn't write down the time, but For Whom The Bell Tolls by Metallica had just begun playing on XM 48 and it ended when I reached the order box. According to Wikipedia, the length of that song is 5 minutes 10 seconds. So it took me that long to reach the order box, or whatever you call it and there were two cars ahead of me that had not ordered. During this time, five cars came in behind me only to drive off, apparently they decided the wait was too long. At 12:11PM I ordered a Whopper meal w/cheese and a medium Coke.
Just after I ordered a sixth car drove off. Ahead of me a Ford Escort ZX2 and couldn't make it up the small incline to the drive-thru window. It was icy and he sat their spinning his wheels for a minute or two. We all backed up a bit to give him room and he went back and forth a few times before finally making it up. The Pontiac Grand Prix just ahead of me also experienced some tire spinnage. The King may want to consider putting down some salt or sand. I finally made it to the first window (with no tire spinnage, thank you) and was greeted very personably and paid for my meal. I moved to the second window and another very friendly BK employee handed me my meal. The actual paying for and receiving of my food was fairly quick and I was impressed by the employees friendliness. I left the BK parking lot at 12:18 PM.
So lets sum up.
It took approximately 12 minutes and 10 seconds to go through the BK drive thru during the noon rush hour.
I witnessed 6 cars/customers give up on their quest for a delicious Whopper.
I think the drive-thru lane could use some salt.
The employees at this location were very friendly (perhaps they just need MORE of them?)
My Whopper was great, the fries were kinda bland, but that's usually the case with BK fries.
