Google Search Complaint - Pornography - Scottydog Items

Review by grumble708 on 2008-03-02
MOUNHTAIN HOME, ARKANSAS -- I went to Google search scotty dogs to look for some items I wanted to buy. Low and behold while my grand children were watching up on page 47 came the pictures of a man playing with himself. I never expected to see this on the pages that I thought was meant to just display scotty dog stuff.

I immediately removed that from my computer, but what I want to know is why was that pornography stuff allowed where unsuspecting people that were looking for scotty items and where children would or could visit without warning us of such trash.

both isp's and internet browsers have settings to halt these types of pages. if that isn't good enouph, windows xp can be set as well.

unfortunately, this is your own fault. for those who do enjoy porongraphy, the web is a great place. next time read the site description before randomly opening un-known web pages.

Which page 47? Of the Google search or some web site? Out of curiosity I looked at all the listings on pages 46-48 of a Google search for scotty dogs and none of them have a porn link. However, there are many porn sites that hijack legitimate links. That's probably what the OP experienced.

I didn't see a guy playing with himself, but on page 46, I saw 2 dogs humping.

Yours is not the first complaint of one finding himself on a porn site by ACCIDENT. I know of a lady, computer programmer, who had all sorts of parental controls on her home system. Her son had been informed at Sunday School by his teacher of how to send in so many wrappers from a "lollipop" company for a free prize and there he was on a porn site like you wouldn't believe. It doesn't matter the name of the company, it happened. What's the solution? I don't know. All I can say is no one should blame a legitimate company when a porn site shows up. I hope you got all the garbage off your system.

A coworker of mine was looking for some sporting equipment. She freaked out when she did a search on some of the bigger sporting goods stores around here. When she searched for 'Dick's Sporting Goods', she didn't put in the 'Sporting Goods'. You can imagine what she got back. It was actually pretty funny, especially her reaction. Our work internet is now blocked from a lot of those items.

I agree with Passing. I have all kind of blocks on my computer but it's happened to me just from typing in a letter wrong. All you can do is close the page and be careful of what you type in the search bar.

LOL Cherpep. If one heard the name of this lollipop company he would understand that as well.

Grumble708, it is the way these scum do business and not just Pornography they just associate their stuff with key words or places and let it ride. They do catch them when people turn them in and are taken off. But they will stop at nothing to try and put crap right back out there. There is really not much one can do about it but turn them in because all the freaking blocks in the world will not stop it. Sorry but that is just the way it is.

46 pages? I don't think I've ever looked that far on a Google search - if it's not in the first half dozen pages I try another search term or another search engine. I would imagine 46 pages into a Google search for "Scottydogs" you found the web site for the adult film "The Adventures of Scotty and Dawg".

I haven't read all the replies so I don't know if this has been covered or not, but you CAN change the filter on Google so that it will weed out 99.9% of items some may find offensive.

I'd gather that if you were on page 46 that this one happened to slip through the cracks.

GothicS, how would you know you are always looking for those DARK SITES!!!! LOL! How are you today?

There is only one way that you can absolutely guarantee that children/grand children or anyone will NEVER see anything pornographic on the internet is to NEVER allow them access to the internet.

The available filtering methods do a pretty good job.

By page 46 it was probably returning results for Scotty or Dog, usually not both. You can tell by reading the summary and seeing what's in bold.
