Delta Airlines Complaint - Online Registration And Customer Service
ATLANTA, GEORGIA -- I booked a flight on Norwest Airlines THROUGH Delta Skymiles using Skymiles my husband David and I had accumulated. When I did it online and I entered the PIN, it automatically gave me the name DAVID _____ SR (my husband's name) with the option of Mr., Mrs., Miss or Mrs. I filled in "MRS", thinking that was my only option. [I was later told by a Delta Skymiles rep that that meant “sex,” so apparently there are now 4 different sexes, rather than 2.) It only printed my husband's name on my round trip ticket to Little Rock from Birmingham stopping in Memphis, and back again (round trip).
I had no problems at the Birmingham Airport with my boarding pass/ticket. It wasn't until I tried to return home from Little Rock on Sunday, March 2, on NW flight 280 at 4:30 p.m. that I encountered problems at the desk because I wasn't "Mr. -------" I explained what had happened with the form when I booked online. I even had my boarding pass where I had come TO Little Rock from Birmingham.
I got the runaround for approximately 2 hours from both Delta Skymiles (by phone and hotline at the Delta desk), Delta and Northwest -- lots of conflicting information on how it could be fixed or that it couldn’t. Time ran out. I missed the flight. I had to book a trip home with the only airline that would get me there - Continental - by way of Houston. It was over $300. Lucky I had a credit card. Other folks might not have been so fortunate and have been stranded.
When I got home and called to resolve or find out if I could AT LEAST have the Skymiles back, I was told since I took the first part of the flight - notice it was ME, not David Evans - I could not redeposit the Skymiles. Ironically, that day that I tried to return home, the guy at the Northwest counter offered to sell me a ticket on the flight. Desperate, I agreed. Then he found out the flight was sold out. Obviously, it wasn't - as DAVID ----- would not be taking his seat on the flight they wouldn't allow me on! It was INCREDIBLY RIDICULOUS.
So I am out skymiles and the $379 it took me to fly on Continental -- with apparently no recourse.
I cannot get anyone at Delta still to help me. I plan to NEVER use skymiles and fly DELTA again.
