Best Buy Complaint - If you aint got it don't sell it
CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA -- My Complaint with Best-buy starts two years ago in Feb 2006. I bought an RCA 52 Projection TV from The Independence Blvd location (Charlotte NC) This was on a Saturday evening. It was scheduled to be delivered the following Tuesday. I paid for the TV with the extended warranty AKA bells and whistles. The Guy who sold the TV to me told me that they had my TV in Stock in that very store. Well come Monday following I get a call from some sales rep from the store I bought it from stating they miscalculated they didn't have my TV and it was back ordered and my projected delivery date was a month away. My #1 frustration is that a store that boast the Geek Squad can't update their computers inventory? Okay it gets better. I call around to a few other stores and another local store In Charlotte out on HWY 51 stated they had the TV in stock.
They stated they could just transfer my order from there I just needed to come in with the receipt. So I drive across town and show them the receipt and they pull up the TV in their files and they send a guy back to put my name on the BOX (at my request) well the guy comes back 20 minutes later and he can find no such box AKA my TV. Well Long Story Short I finally got my TV and I got it on the day they said I would over a month after I purchased it. In truth it was a good deal and has been a great TV my Complaint this time was not with the merchandise it was with the communication and service.
Example number two. As if I didn't learn my lesson the first time. Feb 15-2008 I have been shopping for a Laptop computer. Best Buy has got a great deal on a Compaq 17 inch Monitor Dual Core Processor 2GB DDR 160 GB Hard Drive Web Came Mic Vista home Premium it is a Great Package and on sale $200.00 off normal Price. So I go into Best Buy on Independence Blvd. in Charlotte NC, Same place as I bought the TV. I tell the lady in the Laptop department I am here to buy (notice I didn't say look at, thinking about or considering) I'm here to buy a Laptop I am interested in the one on-sale. Well she points to the one she had on display I could swear I heard angels start to sing when I looked at this thing. I said Sold It has the largest screen on a laptop I have ever seen it looked like a surf board. Anyway the lady looked at me and said they were sold out then no joke she walked away.
I called back to here asked if she knew if any of the other local Best Buys had any in stock she said no and no joke she walked away again. Now I have not worked in sales but I was pretty much a caught fish I had the hook in my mouth all she had to do was pull. Okay it doesn't end there, you see I really want this computer and decide its worth waiting for so I will just go online and buy it and have it shipped. Well long story short. I go online I buy it all seems right in the world, this is on Friday 2-15-08 buy the way. Come Monday I get an email stating my order has you guessed it been back ordered 1-2 Weeks. Well two weeks was yesterday and I called today and it is still back ordered and word of advise customer service is no help they don't know anything and they can't tell you when where or how. The email stated that I had a few options I could ask CS to check and see if the item was in stock at any local stores they weren't remember thats why I bought it online, I humored myself though I had her Check. Option two was she could help me find something comparable. I kid you not she said let me look up our website you can follow along with me. She was just going to go shopping with me.
It wasn't that they were going to offer me some special on something similar that they did have in-stock she was just going to look online with me. Option 3 I could cancel my order. Well in truth I'm complaining but I didn't have her cancel the order it really is a good deal. So my word of advise for those seeking to buy from Best Buy is one don't buy it unless you can put your hand on the box and two if you are willing to sacrifice good service to save some money Best Buy is the store for you. Just don't expect to get what you bought when they said you would get it they are unable to produce those death defying results. However this will be my last purchase with them and I am more than eager to share my experience with others. I work in a large office building with tons of computer people. I have shared this with many of them and will continue to do so.
