Class Action Lawsuits Informative - Class Action Lawsuits

Below is a link regarding a class action lawsuit that has just been settled. This is for all of the posters that are interested in filing a class action lawsuit. Notice that the company is paying 23.3 million dollars to settle and the only thing that consumers get is their money back.

The consumers will get a cheap gift card while the lawyers are striking it rich.

Lawyers love these because the judges (former lawyers most of them) let them have HUGE fees and the person who really suffered (the consumer) gets a nothing of value.

A lot of those gift cards end up being worthless

Class action law suits are a joke and should be abolished. They are worthless to the class and can cripple a company and its shareholders. It's all about fat cat law firms going after the big fish with money.

There is a proposed settlement against Uni-Mart in a Class action lawsuit ciruclating now. The lawyers will get rich and the people who had the expiration of their credit/debit card shown on their receipt will get 5 free cupes of coffee.

I am surprised that they get even that much back. Usually the results are something like a 39 cents off your next purchase coupon.

I agree with everyone about class action lawsuits but I have an additional comment. I think most people that are involved in these suits aren't necessarly wanting something monetary for themselves but rather they are wanting to hit the company in the pocketbook where we all know hurts companies the most. I would venture to guess that most people probably don't care who get's the money as long as the company pays and quits doing whatever it is that they're doing wrong. Unfortunately, big lawsuits are the only way to get a company's attention. Just my thoughts.

Good point, memory. It's more of a matter of principle than dollars.

Memory is right, but that fact of the matter is that amount probably represents three days revenues for the company. They keep shipping out this garbage at a ten thousand percent markup, and laugh all the way to the bank.
