JCB Furniture Complaint - Warning: Do Not Shop There!

Review by Mrscop96 on 2008-03-06
NEWBURGH, NEW YORK -- This company told us they did not want us to take our business to one of the big name furniture stores and that they could do better on the price. Ultimately we purchased 2 carpets, 1 bunk bed, 1 captains bed, 3 dressers, 2 bookcases, 1 night stand and 3 mattresses. We were told the carpet would arrive in 2-4 weeks and furniture around the same time frame. We ordered on 12/31-carpet came on 2/8 but the store did not order enough carpet after we gave them the measurements of the rooms so we had to wait for another order (meanwhile our furniture is waiting in their warehouse). Then we were told the carpet would be in Monday or Tuesday which then became Wednesday or Thursday and finally installed on Friday February 15th. On February 10th we picked up furniture and got home to find no mattresses so we had to drive all the way back to the store. We began putting the bunk beds together and found that it was the wrong furniture. When I called to tell them they gave us the wrong furniture the sales person used vulgar language on the phone - very unprofessional.

Now we have to wait for the right furniture. On February 20th - 1 person from the store comes to set up the furniture (a joke because you need at least 2 people) - he puts it together with the help of my 68 year old father and he puts it together wrong and when he opens the box to the dresser the faces of the drawers fell off. Now we have to wait for another dresser to be ordered. He did not even put the knobs on the dresser that was in one piece for us. There is a gouge in the wood and a cover is missing on the headboard. This company has our money, they never returned our phone calls when they said they would. It is now March 6, 2008 and we still have not received our complete order. We still call and are told that we will get a call back and never do. Now that we have had this horrible experience I hear more and more people complain of their own experience with this store.

They have done nothing to make this situation right. I would never recommend or shop at this place of business again and will make it a point to tell anybody and everybody I know not to shop there. The worst shopping experience ever. You definitely get what you pay for and we paid too much for this aggravation. Do yourself a favor and pay a little more (and I mean a little) for 100% better customer service and products.

OMG! I've been waiting since March for my furniture. They sent me the wrong furniture. The furniture I received is complete garbage and they've been telling me the company that ships it is waiting for a full truck. Then its, "why don't you come down and pick out something else" and everything else that I pick costs more than what I initially spent. Then they tell me it's no longer on sale, that I got a great price for my living room set, yet it's still being advertised in the current flyer. The last time I went in (last Sunday) they tell me they've called another company to fill my order. It should be here by Thursday, it's now Saturday. Every time I call, the salesman who took my order, Scott, isn't available. I know on at least 2 occasions he tried to disguise his voice. In any case, just as the other consumer states, they never return phone calls. I've had to go down there in person on several occasions.
