Imation Complaint - Poor Customer Service - Disc Stakka

Disc Stakka - Complaint
Review by jmurr on 2008-03-08
On Dec 3, 2008 I purchased an Imation Disc Stakka". Around Feb. 23rd the unit failed and would no longer accept or eject disks. An e-mail to tech. Support resulted in a return e-mail explaining that the problem was most likely caused by grease on the belts or a stretched belt. A partial explanation of how to replace the belts was also included, it did not address removal of one part necessary to change the belts. I called tech support and ask if there was any other way to have the unit fixed as I am not very mechanically inclined and suffer from arthritis in my hands. I was told by "Louis" that this was company policy and could not be deviated from.

I feel that since the unit was less than three months old when it failed and I have a sales receipt for the unit that a replacement unit should be sent to me. There is a twelve month warranty on the unit.

Insisting that a customer make their own repairs on a warrantied item is indeed a new low.
