Superior Auto Complaint - Bad Car

Review by BATMAN88 on 2008-03-11
46703, INDIANA -- My son brought a car from them and have made two week car payment when the engine went knocking/running rough. They said they can't do nothing about because my son signed the paper that said he can get a mechanic to check it out. I do not think that is right.

Isn't superior auto one of those buy here pay here type places? I don't know but those places seem like bottom feeders akin to check cashing joints, Mr. Payday and Target. People should avoid these places at all cost.

The theory is that the buyer has an independent mechanic check the car before the purchase because the car is sold "as-is". That is why these cars tend to be cheaper.

I went through 2 buy her pay here cars that only lasted 6 months!

Its unfortunate, but if you bought it as is, you bought it as is...even taking it to a mechanic, although a very good idea, is not going to change the fact that the car is as is.

Thats the risk you take when buying a car from a janky car lot as opposed to an actual dealership where cars are inspected to see if they are fit for resale before they are put on the lot. Where do you think all the trades that dealers reject auction, and then picked up by one of these places and sold AS IS.

Your son bought a car in "as is" condition from a shady used car dealership, signed a paper that said he had the right to have the vehicle checked out by an independent mechanic but it sounds like he didn't follow through. Sorry he's in a jam but this situation falls under the "live and learn" category.

I bought my car from Superior Auto a couple of years ago. My reason being that my credit sucked and the engine went out on my last vehicle. Superior auto was the only place that would let me get a car. Also I didn't have a co-signer. I bought a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier with 118,00 miles on it and now it has 148,000 miles on it. I have never had anything major go wrong with my car... Knock on wood. lol. Im not saying I would go back to superior auto but I'm just saying with that place its really hit or miss. My Dad tells me everyday I got lucky when I bought that car. I knew what I was getting into when I signed that paper. My sister just recently bought and 02 Olsmobile Alero from there, after the car heats up all the dash lights come on. ????? Weird but the car doesn't do anything funny like lose power or anything like that, so she just lets it go. About a year ago my best friend bought a Grand Prix from them and a week later the engine blew, She went back and said is there anything you can do? They said no, well her mother in law went up there with her later that day and she talked them into letting here bring that car back and picking out another car but she couldn't get another Grand Prix. She ended up getting a Dodge Neon and she never had any major issues with it, just regular stuff like brakes and oil changes. My advice is that if you can go somewhere else then do that but if you feel you just have no option then do what you feel you need to do. I wont go back to superior auto again. The charge way too much for those cars! When I'm done paying for my car I'll have payed 10 thousand for it, the car for a private party value is probably 1500. Sad isn't it, I wont get of what i payed for that car, oh well i knew what i was doing. Its very true, you live and learn. I've learned.
