The New York Wall Company Complaint - Say Goodbye To Your Deposit

Review by jenniferem on 2008-03-11
NEW YORK, NEW YORK -- I had a partition wall installed in May of 2005. I paid a $150 deposit, that was to be refunded upon removal of the wall. We had the wall removed on November 16, 2007. The remover trashed our apartment--left it a filthy mess--after arriving 5 hours late. "Devon" told us he would send out our $150 check that day. I called in December and was told by "Devon" that it would take 60 days to issue a check. I called on January 16, 2008, 60 days after removal, and was told they were delayed by a week or so. I called again on February 16, and left a message for "Devon." Since then I have left numerous faxes and sent emails and left messages.

I am always told that "Devon" handles it and that "Devon is not available. I filed a complaint with the BBB, only to find out they have MANY complaints on the same issue and they don't bother to respond.

So if using this company, be aware that the "deposit" is actually a "fee" and you will NEVER get it back.

If you have a written contract then send them a letter demanding the refund of the deposit. If they don't respond then your next move is small claims.
