Applebees Informative - Bad Service at Applebees
EPPING, NEW HAMPSHIRE -- Four of us went out for dinner at Applebees in Epping, NH. Being poor college kids, we don't go out to eat very often, and it's somewhat of a special occasion to not have to eat dining hall food. We were in good spirits when we got to the restaurant and were seated promptly.
After that it all went downhill. Our appetizer didn't take too long, but we weren't given any silverware, napkins, or plates to eat it with! We noticed this right after we got the food and then we didn't see our waitress for fifteen minutes, so we had to eat it with our hands and no plates. We got the sampler plater, which was pretty good, but the spicy wings left most of us waiting for a drink refill that didn't come until our main course was served.
This restaurant also commited one of my biggest pet peeves: the waitress acted like she had something better to do whenever we asked for something. I hate feeling like I'm ruining her night by asking for another Pepsi, but that's how she acted every time we called for her.
My friend's salad came after the steak, which was odd. I got the burger with the giant onion ring on it, which was good, but two of my friends got the NY strip steak done medium rare, and while one of them was cooked perfectly the other was grey all the way through. By the time my friend got ahold of the waitress to complain everyone was almost finished eating. The waitress said, "Oh, yeah, I'll get you another steak" in this apathetic pissed-off tone, and my friend simply said, "No thanks, everyone's almost done, you can just take it back. But can you take it off my bill?" Now our waitress was really mad and went to get the manager.
I didn't think anyone could be more rude than that waitress, but the manager was horrible! She basically shouted at my friend, intimidating him so much that he quietly accepted the steak she offered this time around. Everyone sat around watching him eat, reflecting on how awful the experience was and wishing we would have gone to Friday's.
