Smartsmoker Complaint - IRS And Tobacco - Tobacco

Review by RICFELIU on 2008-03-18
BRIDGEPORT, CONNECTICUT -- SmartSmoker, report to the IRS the customers that buy cigarettes from their company, maybe that is the law, what is really bad is that if you keep buying their products they did not report you.

If the client stop smoking and do not buy anymore, them the denounce you to the IRS, and believe me, that can be a very big problem, because is not only the taxes that you have to pay back, there are interest and penalties that can reach more than $ 1000.00.

Do not buy from this people, because if you do once, then you have to keep buying forever.
This is complete true, you have to give your SS and checking account # when buy from this companies, I quit smoking and stop to buy, but I know and have friend that still buy from them and the company do not report their names, I also show some of this people the documents fron the IRS, where show in details every delivery they made for 3 years, of course they have afraid now.
this is costing me more that 3000.00.
This is a real life experience with this company, if you believe it, good if not just take the risk

I really don't know what you are trying to say here?
The best thing to do is NOT smoke in the first place.

But this is how they start out.

You are about to enter a web site where tobacco products are offered for sale.

We comply with all applicable laws governing the sale of tobacco products, one of which prohibits the sale of cigarettes to underage persons. Accordingly, we will not knowingly sell cigarettes to anyone who is under 21 years of age.

We have implemented many sophisticated techniques —including the cross-checking of government and commercial data base records— to confirm your identity and to verify whether or not you are of the legal age to purchase tobacco products.

If you are 21 years of age or over, then click on the "I’m 21 or over" button to enter our web site.

If you are under 21 years old, then click on the "I’m under 21" button, and you will be linked to Smoking Stinks, a web site that is more appropriate for you.

How do they report you if they don't have your SS# and WHY would you give it to them?
This sounds like a Stew post!

From their site:

'As part of the Seneca Nation of Indians and the Iroquois Confederacy, SmartSmoker is currently not required to collect state sales tax for products sold on Native land. Nonetheless, we are required under federal law to report all sales and shipments of cigarettes to the state taxing authority within your home state. You should contact the taxing authority within your state to determine your tax obligation on the use of these products within your state. LINKS TO STATES TAX DEPARTMENTS '

Your post makes no logical sense. IRS is not going to penalize you because you stop buying from a company.

I'M A CLIENT OF THIS COMPANY, BUT I HAVE A FRIEND THAT RECEIVED THIS YEAR A LETTER FROM THE IRS, AFTER SHE STOP BUYING FROM THEM. THE IRS STOP HER REFUND, THIS YEAR AND SHE IS NEGOTIARING THE PAYMENTS, INTEREST AND PENALTIES.
IN HER CASE SMARTSMOKER REPORTED A DETAILED REPORT OF HER DELIVERIES.
AFTER I SAW THAT I HAVE AFRAID NOW TO STOP, THIS PRACTICE IS NOT FAIR IS LIKE A BLACK MAILING CUSTOMERS

SmartSmoker have not moral to tell someone that quit smoking is like a drug dealer tell a drug user to quit.
The irs not penalize you because stop buying, they penalize you because you bought cigarretes from a company that not cherges taxes, and not only that they add penalty and interest.
SmartSmoking does not deserve the trust of the customers, they know that if they report all their customers to the IRS, have to clouse the company, that's why they only do it when you quit smoking or not buy from them for a period of time

Why did you send this to my personal e-mail? I have no idea what is going on with this post, and didn't even respond to it, aside from this. DO NOT SPAM MEMBERS PERSONAL E-MAIL ADDRESSES. I DON'T DO IT TO YOU, DON'T DO IT TO ME. It's like me sending you a spam e-mail for viagra. It's rude and it's inappropriate.
