Audiovox/RCA Informative - Audiovox 2 gig MP3 player a danger to your computer and a shoddy product

Review by mauimike on 2008-03-18
KETCHUM, IDAHO -- I bought an Audiovox/RCA 2 gig mp3 player from a well known retail chain. When I plugged it in to the USB port of my 2300.00 laptop it instantly fried my usb ports which are connected to the mother board of my computer. In order to fix the issue the whole mother board had to be replaced at a cost of 500.00 not including the shipping to ship it off to the company . When I contacted the retail chain and explained what happened, they were very cooperative and filled out an insurance claim to fix my computer.

I was then contacted by a Carl from Audiovox corporation and not only was he in denial of the defective mp3 player, but,he was very rude trying to bring up any reason that his company's product had nothing to do with ruining my computer, even after 3 repair shops said differently.

If you have had the same problem contact Audiovox at 1-631-436-6326

Do you have any statements from the repair shops that indicate the issue was caused by the MP3 player?

$500 to replace the motherboard... GOOD GOOGLY MOOLY! It costs only $75-300 to replace the motherboard and the cpu altogether.
