Gold's Gym International, Inc Complaint - Fraudulent Contract - Membership
SPANISH FORK, UTAH -- February 2006, I had been using my Gold's Gym Membership in Spanish Fork, UT. I only had one month left on my contract, but was working with a personal trainer and wanted to continue the membership until April, at which point I was moving. I talked to the sales manager to see what could be done. His name was Isaac, and had been a star lineman for BYU, and even played in the NFL for a couple years. My mistake was in trusting him. I told him my situation, I only needed a two month extension on my contract. I wasn't aware that my contract could do that, so I asked his advice. He told me I would have to sign up for a month to month contract, and could cancel in April. April comes, and I try to cancel. I was told that I had been put in a one year contract and there was nothing I could do about it. I told them I had moved to Florida and I needed it canceled, but still no mercy.
One year later, I call to finally cancel, and they assure me that it was in fact a two year contract, and again, there was nothing I could do about it. I called today, March 20th, 2008, to cancel once and for all and they said they would do it. Hopefully this is the end. Still, Isaac looked me in the eye and lied to me. He took advantage of me when I trusted him and put me into a binding two year contract against my will.
