Three Brothers Moving and Storage Informative - Crooks - Moving Service

Review by Dino II on 2008-03-20
WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA -- Three Brothers Moving and Storage moved our household goods for a short move. During the move, their crew stole a number of our possessions. All the items were small valuables (watch, etc.) or new items still in the box that could be readily returned for cash. Although we did not recognize the issue at the time, we probably saved ourselves more stolen property when we noticed a few new in the box items (dvds, etc.) that seemed to be oddly set aside during packing and threw them in our car.

After the move when we noticed the missing items, we complained to Three Brothers Moving and Storage. After a long time, they finally agreed to pay us a fraction of the value of the items. To get this behind us, we signed a waiver accepting their proposed amount. They have never sent the check.

Calls go unanswered and unreturned. Our only recourse now appears to be small claims court. Don't hire these people under any circumstance.

I'm sure you already did this. But many homeowner policies will cover goods in transit. Many will not. If yours will cover the loss, it may be a solution. Not to be a person of 20/20 hindsight...never let movers handle jewelry, firearms, or small (valuable) antiques. Even the most reputable movers occasionally hire transients at local truck stops to help with loading and unloading.
Sorry for your loss. Thanks for the warning.
