Burt Ford on Arapahoe Complaint - Horrible Service and Derogatory Comments

Review by Academicus on 2008-03-20
DENVER, COLORADO -- We purchased a used vehicle from Burt Ford on Arapahoe in Denver several months ago. From the start it was a nightmare.

Just after signing the paperwork the finance guy asked my wife and I if she was, and I quote, a "mail order bride." Burt did nothing about this.

We purchased a Clearbra for the car. I attempted numerous times to set an appointment with Clearbra Connection of Colorado, but it was nearly impossible because they don't answer their phone (it always goes straight to voicemail). Finally we set an appointment up, but the installer called after he was scheduled to arrive saying he couldn't make it. He cited weather as the reason, but it had been snowing for 2 days.

After another week of attempting to reschedule we had another appointment. When we showed up to pick the car up it was dismantled all over the garage at the dealership. We had to put it back together (grill, bug guard, etc...) We also noticed that there was dirt under the Clearbra and that they hadn't applied it everywhere that we paid to have it applied.

Burt offered to refund us for the Clearbra and service manager [snip] said that he would send a check to us. I specifically asked him if he could send it to pay down the loan and he said no on two occasions. Two weeks went by and we didn't receive a check. [snip] asked me to call him the next business day to remind him to check. I did this and he again asked me to remind him the next day. This went on for several weeks. Finally [snip] said the check had been mailed a week earlier. We hadn't received it, but had received other things from the dealership that had been mailed the day prior to arrival. I asked [snip] to verify the address and he refused.

Several more weeks went by and we repeated the process of me reminding him everyday to check per his request. Finally 1 1/2 months later the check was sent TO THE BANK -- He lied.

When we picked the car up after the Clearbra was "installed," the headlight was out and the rear light was out. These were working when we dropped it off and I pointed this out to the salesman before we left. Burt said they would fix it and set up an appointment. I showed up for the appointment and nobody knew why I was there. After 45 minutes of waiting it turned out they hadn't ordered the bulbs. I went back the following week and nobody knew why I was there. They had the bulb this time and fixed the light. Three weeks later the same light was out. After nagging the corporate office to fix it, the bulb was again replaced (this was handled well).

In the end Burt Ford made derogatory comments to my wife and I, lied, yelled at us, broke promises and offered only one apology from the corporate office 2 months into the mess.
