DirecTV Inc Complaint - Not Legal...
AUSTIN, TEXAS -- I callled to cancel service.
Was offered free upgrade to HD so decided to stay.
Installer came.... stated work order was for HD receiver not DVR.
Told them nevermind, get lost.... person on phone said no problem we will get you the DVR as promised.
Installer left, but the HD channels did not work, so I called to complain and was told it would be 2 weeks to reinstall, I said no.
Sent a bill for $200 (for HD DVR) and $480 for cancellation.....(I never agreed, never commited).
This was billed to my credit card......(I never agreed to this).
I disputed transaction..... my money was refunded....DirecTV is pissed.
Sent certified letter to DirecTV telling them to pick up their crap under provisions of the Texas 3 day consumer cancel policy........ (this is key...had I waited for them to fix this, I would have been stuck).
I called the BBB..... and the TX Attorney General's office.
I also sent email to Ellen Filipak (VP of DirectV customer service)...
The way it works is that if I tell them in writing within 3 days, and they don't inform me of intent to pick up the equipment within 10 days....I don't have to do lift a finger...not even mail the crap back.
Ready to go to court..... Cannot wait.
