Rite Aid Complaint - Snack Food Options Went Downhill

Review by paulkar on 2008-03-24
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA -- I was a recent convert from Walgreens to Rite-Aid, due to their better quality options for snack food, like popcorn (Jenny Craig brand), chips (Kettle Chips & local gourmet brands), etc.

HOWEVER, I now noticed they removed all the good stuff and dedicated all the shelf space to the common, less healthy, options which happened to be under the Frito-Lay company. I'm not saying Frito-Lay is bad, but the other, more interesting, less junkie brands (I DO read labels!) were a real plus!

Looks like I may go back to Walgreens; they now have a better selection ...

I would bet that drug stores are like grocery stores, the companies pay for the shelf space so whoever if paying more, gets more.

Rite-Aid. Walgreens. Those are pharmacies, right? Don't they fill perscriptions and sell medical supplies mainly? If you want a better selection of "healtier" snacks, try a grocery store.

That sounds about right spiderman2. Thank goodness we have options in these matters. Also, sometimes it doesn't hurt expressing your wants to the manager. Take Care!

I have to agree with robf. To come on the net and complain about a drug store because of the snack food they stock?

paulkar, this is a gripe site and you have the right to post what you want. I for one find this review interesting and it contains good information. Thanks for your thoughts

Funny, I just came from Rite Aid and I am a former Walgreens customer as well. Given, you won't find Bertolli's or much "healthy choice" type foods there but they do have a pretty broad variety of foods and snacks for a PHARMACY.
