Metlife Insurance STD Informative - Company Don't Want To Pay Out Claim

Review by CHINAPLUM on 2008-03-25
MIAMI, FLORIDA -- I was out of work since October 2007 until January 2008 due to a very serious illness my doctor took me off duty because he felt like it was the best thing to do at the time. Metlife after all the years I have been with this company denied my claim I did an appeal they said they sent my medical records to a similar doctor of 'there choice' who said I was able to perform my duties at the time I applied for std.

They sent my doctor a copy of there doctor's report and they wanted to no did my doctor agree with what there doctor said my doctor didn't agree and my doctor sent in more records and they still denied my claim and told me that I couldn't do anymore appeals and I only did one.

I need some help on this please.

Try contacting the Florida Insurance Commission. Perform a web search to get the contact information. They may be able to help or possible offer suggestions on what you should do next.

Good luck.

You must meet medically necessity guidelines to be paid for any disability coverage. Perhaps your doctor didn't submit sufficient information to back this up? Send a letter of appeal to MetLife with all medical records related to your claim. If the appeal is denied, do a second level appeal.

yes, do a second level of appeals. Perhaps your second level of appeals is through your employer. Contact your HR dept for more information.
