DirecTV Inc Complaint - Service Contract Scam
BOWIE, MARYLAND -- I am having trouble with DirecTV and it seems like a national problem that should be exposed. I have been a DirecTV customer for at least several years. I upgraded to their HD service as soon as it was provided in or around 2002. With in the last two years I've had to replace there equipment at least 6 times because it malfunctioned. Once I cancelled there service I was sent a bill for early cancellation even though I hadn't added any receivers or equipment in at least 4 years. When I responded to that I was told that anytime you have a malfunction of their equipment, that you have to rent from them, they automatically renew your contract for 2 years. I told them I was not told that, and that I had been there customer for over 7 years.
Their story as to why I still owe the money has gone from at least three times now. The scam is their equipment doesn’t last long enough to ever get out of there contract.
