Yummi's Complaint - Reality of Yummi's Yonge and Eglinton!!

Review by em66 on 2008-03-28

I was an excited employee who joined Yummi's Yonge and Eglinton to work there. After a few days I realized that their methods of serving were very unethical!

The hummus that gets stale doesn't get thrown out! They just MIX THE OLD WITH THE NEW! Don't even dare have the ketchup only god knows how old the bottles are!

They basically have one server to serve about 20 tables and they expect top service. Not to forget the constant 'firing threats' we have to hear if we are not able to keep up with the orders!

There are also mice seen here and there and if anyone asks they say its spring and they just got in today somehow. (over two weeks 2 customers got the same reply in front of me)

I figured I couldn't improve the situation without losing my job so I quit. Because I refuse to serve stale/bad food mixed with new so that it look fresh to people who are not aware of whats going on.

Guess what? They didn't even pay me! Its been two weeks now they won't take my calls if I go there they always have some excuse or the other and they owe me about $350-400 and I got nothing!!! (I'm still pursuing it)

The most unethical people I have come across and definitely NOT A PLACE TO EAT AT!

PEOPLE STAY AWAY FROM YUMMI's YONGE AND EGLINTON if you don't want stomach aches!

peace XX

so what did the Board of Health say when you called them? You did call them, right? Of course you must have since you are so conscientious.

It's too bad they treated you this way.

Anyone can see clearly that you said "I figured I couldn't improve the situation without losing my job so I quit". Sorry that not everyone could read that. It is very clear you quit.

Like Ken says you need to report these people if they are making people sick.

If I were you, I would contact the National Labor Relations Board. They are the only people I know of that have the teeth to do anything about the pay they owe you. The other alternative is small claims court. I don't know about Ohio, but here in Arizona if you are successful in small claims court on a salary case, you can get treble damages. which could mean you would get $1,200 instead of $400. I hope that is the case and wish you luck.

I agree with both Superbowl and Starlord. If you have not already done so, please call the health board. It cant be healthy for the employees to work there either, with the mice roaming around. I hope you get results from the labor board too! Good luck!

Good for you for standing up for what you believe is right. I agree with everyone about the health department notification. People in your community will thank you.

The thing about restaurants is that they eventually go out-of-business if their food is consistently bad. Your call to the health department may be able to speed that up. Good luck.
