Kentucky Fried Chicken Complaint - Unfair Treatment Of Workers
My Daughter works at the Kentucky Fried Chicken in Golden CO. She has only been there for about six weeks. Since the very first day of her employment she has been treated very poorly by her manager. She is scheduled for every day and only gets 22 to 28 hours a week. She makes seven dollars an hour. Depending on the day, she could work six hours or she could work less. She works the lobby counter and is on her feet the entire time without the required floor mats. She is a single mother and is pregnant. Her manager knew all of this when she was hired. Her first week working, KFC did not have an employee number for her. And according to her manager, E-----, they were not able to provide the proper "punch in" procedure for her. She received her first paycheck and was shorted aprx. six hours.
Elaine informed my daughter that this was common because they, (the company), considered this training time, and it was NOT payed time. Being on welfare, as my daughter is, in order to comply with our States regulation regarding payed child care, she has to provide proof of hours worked. The manager, would not help at all with this issue, nor did she seem to care. Now for the biggest issue. E-----, the manager, does not allow breaks, and when they are granted, they are not for 10 min, as required by the state, rather 1 or 2 minutes. The threat of termination comes up every day for a couple of employees, yet the ones who are consistently late or no-show no call, get no threat at all. I am not a human resource specialist, but I know that this manager is in violation of several "federal" laws and more than likely a few state laws also.
My Daughter goes in when E---- has the other employees call in sick, (2 times a week), and yet my daughter and the other person are in fear of losing their job, that they need very bad. I just wanted the rest of the country to know that a company in America gets by with these kind of violations every day and it just is not right. If this company, KFC cares, this would not happen
