Orbitz Complaint - Orbitz charges $30 plus another $100 for the airlines plus over $100 more to change any return flight
If you change your return flight on a multi-carrier itinerary, you will be charged a much higher fare in addition to $100 by the airline and $30 by Orbitz! This is because you lose your roundtrip status and they book you as a one-way customer for the return. This will not happen if you go direct to the first carrier and book with them. Only use orbitz if you are flying with one of the owner airlines (American, delta etc own Orbitz. There is animosity with other airlines and Orbitz TLC customer service is a joke. Don't let them "release" your ticket or you will be left with a credit you cannot use. They won't book a return to use your unused fare and neither will the airline.
You will be stuck until you find someone from the airlines that will break the impasse. Ask Orbitz to send an "OSI" which is the private ticket information they hold. Orbitz will claim the airlines set the rules but clearly, the airlines has to wait to see the rules from Orbitz...not the other way around. It is a scam, they just run you in circles between them and the airline.
Ask if the "Agency Desk" at the airline you are using is open on the weekends. If not you will be stuck for two days.
