Best Buy Complaint - Accused me of bad checks!
VIRGINIA BEACH, VIRGINIA -- First of all, I would like to say that I am a long time Best Buy customer.
Today, October 14, 2003, I wanted to purchase some DVDs. I got all my movies and I began to wait in line. I waited about 15 minutes with three people ahead of me. After I got blasted with questions about the Best Buyís gift card, I wrote out my check in the amount of $26.60. The cashier stood there for about a good minute before she asked me to wait a second. She started talking to a manager about the check. She returned and told me that I cannot purchase this produce because my fatherís name was on it. I asked her if I could talk to the man she just spoken with and she called him. The manager just completely ignored her calling and told her to get someone else. So the cashier (the girl) called another manager. The manager came in and listens about the situation. Then she told me that I cannot purchase the DVDs because my father name was on the check too. I explained to her that I have purchased here before with the same check and I never had this problem. She then gave me the classical, ďI understand butÖĒ method. I told her that this is my check book, but my father has his name on it because I am attending college and I cannot open my own check account. I even showed her that my driver license has the same exact address on the check. And I even had a university ID card which has the same exact name, address, and telephone number on the check.
I donít know what kind of check policy Best Buy has, but Iím pretty sure you can purchase items with a check that has your name and your fatherís name on it. Also, Iím more than sure you can purchase items with matching name, address, and telephone number on both the check and ID card.
After the problem I had, I went to another store and got the same items with the same check book and had no problem.
Best Buy has lost a long term customer!!!!
