AirTran Airways Complaint - Unaccompanied Child - Left Unaccompanied
MOUNTAIN DALE, NEW YORK -- My 13 yrs old child went down to Orlando from Newburg NY for Spring break. In order to book my child I was required to pay a $50 fee for the "unaccompanied child" service. Okay, I did. She left Newburg with a flight attendant, but when she arrived in Orlando they left her at the gate alone. When I complained they refunded my fee of $50. Okay-not good but they were trying. Now she is leaving Orlando and on record at the terminal she is still listed as an unaccompanied child-okay-they kept the service-good touch.
They gave her a boarding pass and she went through security and got gate 92 12 minutes before the schedule departure time and there was no plane in site-it was gone-they left. They tell me they can do this-then why bother to post departure times if you are going to leave whenever you want and what about he unaccompanied child with the boarding pass-no one cared. To make matters worse when she approach staff for AirTran in hysterics and vomiting, they laughed at her.
How on earth can an airline reconcile this type of behavior from their personnel. I contacted the airlines and the best they would do was put her on a flight the next day and tried to charge me an 80. fee to top off the matter. terrible personnel problem and I expect AirTran will be and the bankruptcy roles soon-you can't operated a business with indifference and a lack of consideration.
I understand time limitations but they are more worried about on-time arrivals-yeah you get to your destination early because they leave half the people on the ground because they leave early. Terrible......
