FM Realtors Complaint - Complaint- Unprofessional And Money Scam

Review by fallengirl on 2008-04-01
LOS ANGLEES, CALIFORNIA -- Recently, I went to an open house for a rental in El Sereno. It was advertised properly online and on site. I was interested in applying and the real estate agent immediately asked for CASH or CHECK for an application process. I was interested so I paid and then she handed me a notepad for basic information. She said she will be contacting people if it's rented out within two days and that she will match up those that don't get it. Four days pass and no phone call and no $30. I finally contact her and ask and her response is 'yeah, yeah, it's rented". I ask if she was going to contact anyone and she laughed. She was RUDE, UNPROFESSIONAL and UNAPPROACHABLE. Do NOT do business with FM Realtors as they are thieves.

They take the money and run. So much for saying they would match us with other properties. It was a lie and a scam. I should've known when she wanted my information on a skimply notebook. BEWARE!!

Sorry for your trouble. As you found out, a few unscrupulous realtors and property managers supplement their income with 'application fees' charged for property that has already been rented. So you know, most states REQUIRE a standard rental application form. As heavily regulated as rentals are in California, I am virtually certain they require such a form. "Here, write your personal information (and private info) on this cheesy notepad." Some people fall for it. You seem very intelligent and you fell for it. Don't feel bad, it's a common tactic. Good luck finding a nice place. In another way, you're very lucky you didn't end up with those mooks as your landlords!

Contact FM Realtors and ask to speak to the managing broker. Explain what occurred and request a refund. Also, report this "agent" to the California Real Estate Commission.

I am a Realtor in Alabama and if there is a complaint, my broker talks to the agent. We don't put up with scammers.
