CarRentals.com Complaint - Dishonest and Rude Service
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA -- I rented a full-size car for Thurs Mar 27-30. My flight was 1.5 hours late, and the moment I landed I called CarRentals. A lady told me "Sorry, but we're out of cars." I told her I had a confirmed reservation. She apologized, and told me to rent from another vendor, and she would refund the difference. An hour later, I had a car from Alamo. I called back to CarRentals, and a man answered. He told me he didn't care what I was told earlier, and that there would be no refund because my flight was late. I told him I would not rent from them in the future if they could not honor my confirmed reservation and the promise made an hour ago by his agent. He told me "I don't want your future business" and hung up. I own two businesses,and I have always made refunds and expressed regret if I fail to deliver service as promised - whatever the reason. It's sad to see any business make a commitment, and then destroy the relationship an hour later when the customer honors his part of the contract.
For a mere $40 refund difference, CarRentals lost a customer, and will lose countless other renters I will tell this story to.
