DirecTV Inc Informative - Misleading & Poor Business Practices
LAKELAND, FLORIDA -- I recently had Direct TV service at my home for a brief time. The entire five months I had Direct TV, I was on the phone every month trying to get the billing straightened out! I had a different bill every month. On top of that, they gave me services I DID NOT ask for, and wanted me to pay for them.
Finally, I had enough. I called to cancel my service. I spoke with one of the Direct TV reps about my dissatisfaction. He apologized, and agreed to help me terminate my service. I asked at the time what, if any balance I had. He indicated I had a zero balance. Now, almost one month after my cancellation, I get a bill for $399. I feel so misled and tricked. I was told that all new customers are made aware that there is a two year commitment.
I NEVER signed up or would have gone along to that type of agreement for TV service!! I have been trying to get some explanation about this matter, but Direct TV insists that all of the charges are due to them. I really feel that this is somehow illegal. Someone needs to get this type of misleading business practice stopped!! I had always paid my bill in full every month, now I am stuck with a made-up bill by this corporate bully! Does anyone have any good news for me??? This is wrong in so many ways!!!
