Sir Pizza Informative - Posted Cards Not Accepted

Review by jktshff1 on 2008-04-03
NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE -- This is an informative/complaint.

Because of business/personal expenses, I use my Amex exclusively for business.
Sir Pizza on Hwy 70 South in Nashville, TN. has posted that they accept Amex. Have been there before and used Amex with no problems. Good food and service.

However, according to the employee on duty, they have been having trouble with the new credit card reader. It won't take Amex. He tried to do a phone confirmation and finds out they are no longer able to accept them. I explained that they needed to take the sign off the door that says they do.

Just double check when you see these signs to be sure they actually accept what you use.

And to think they were on the verge of being promoted to Lord Pizza. This is going to cost them!

By the way, he asked if I wanted the phone number of the owner and I told him to just have them look up the comments on M3C this morning

DB, that's the informative part. No matter where you are, you need to be sure they accept what you carry.

I've heard good tings about Amex, but unfortunately a lot of places don't take it, and some places that did no longer. It's bad when you try to pay a certain way and they don't accept that payment when it's clearly marked that they do.

I only carry American ExCess. Lately, I have found a lot of establishments with AMEX stickers on the door or next to the register...and the business no longer accepts them. This is much like bait and switch. AMEX charges merchants a higher percentage than many card vendors. It appears that a few dishonest merchants are luring AMEX holders into their business, not accepting AMEX, because they know most people carry 2-5 more credit cards. When this happens, I complain to management. If they don't take the AMEX signs down, I threaten to report the deception to AMEX. Most times, the signs are taken down...and likely put back up as soon as I leave. LOL
