AFS International Complaint - Fraudulent Billing And Excess Charges

Review by nikel on 2008-04-08
AFS does the billing for martial arts academies and fitness centers. I didn't know this when I signed up for kickboxing at a center until I tried to cancel my membership because my hours at worked changed and I couldn't make the classes. The owner of the academy tried to get it cancelled but couldn't. (that doesn't seem right either)So I didn't pay the last 2 months of my dues while we were trying to get this cancelled. Didn't work so I paid the dues and late charges and thought it was done. I was wrong. These people send you one bill saying you owe this amount and then after you pay it in full, they send you another bill saying you owe fees that haven't even accumulated yet. They said I owed them $30 in fees but even if I paid it today I would get another bill for $10 in administrative fees. It seemed to me that no matter what you pay them, the cycle continues and they keep sending you bills for fees that they never mention exist. The best part is after 2 phone calls with 2 separate customer service reps (who gave me completely different answers) I get a letter saying that I have made no attempt to contact AFS and my bill will go to collections!

All this after 1 1/2 hours on the phone plus paying the balance I owed! Got it resolved through another company that the bill had been transferred to because they saw it was crazy too! Lots of complaints about this company. Check the BBB too.
