Hilltop Hyundai Complaint - Poor Fuel Economy - A Huge Disappointment!

Review by grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr on 2008-04-13
VERNON -- Since purchasing my 2007 Accent Hyundai I have had a variety of problems with it. The engine service light has come on several times. The car runs rough and the engine surges. The car has always had extremely poor fuel economy, anywhere from 19mpg to 37mpg never the 48 mpg that it was advertised for. The sunroof was leaking black "goop" and the seatbelt has scratched the interior door panel when it retracts.

The car has been to the service department several times, the first 4 times they changed the spark plugs. A lot of the times they say they can't find the problem. Last time they had the car for 4 days and took it for a 50 km test run and claimed that the car ran 5.2 liters per 100 km. (almost 60 mpg). The service department is treating us like we're making all these problems up.

The car has 33,000 km, we've had problems from day 1 and don't know where to turn!!!!!!!

Are you quoting the estimated mileage from the window tag? If so, those are hilarious and never reflect reality.

The EPA had to change its testing method for the 2008 model year because the highway gas mileage numbers were too high, especially for small cars. So, if you're getting 37 miles per gallon instead of 47 in a 2007 model, you're probably right on target.
