Family Dollar Complaint - People Deserve Better
RED OAK, GEORGIA -- I was hired to be trained as a asst. manager with the understanding that I would be a store manager. I worked for exactly three weeks, I had to quit because of the mental toll this job was taking on me. The training manager and the staff had NO CUSTOMER. They would argue and treat the customers as if they were a inconvenience to them. I witnessed the manager yell at a man for 20 minutes and there were other customers who just left, because the argument was just so loud and threatening. She had made comments like it wasn't her fault that black people coming into the store were POOR.
Now all this is occurring on the sales floor. Once again she made another comment to a young lady concerning a question that she had about the price of milk. She told the young to go over and read the sign, then she said to me " I guess she didn't get an education, or she could read the sign". I mentioned to her my style of customer service and she told me to get a backbone. Just because the store seem to be built around the lower income bracket, doesn't mean people should not get same service and respect as if shopping at Sears. Yes the prices are low that doesn't mean these are not people to. And her team reflected the same nasty and abrasive attitude as the manager. Talking negative about the district manager and saying she was going to slam his asst's. face into the pavement and the only way she would get up was if he pulled her up by her skin.
I had to leave and now I have to start over looking for a job that offers my belief that the "Customer is your paycheck and always give the the unexpected".
