DirecTV Inc Complaint - Poor Disclosure - Pile On Fees
Rather than ramble off topic trying to seem clever or get into what was grilled on the Ducane last night, I'll make this short as another person not particularly happy with Direct TV.
I have a premium package with both MLB Extra Innings and NFL access on top of it. When I set the rig up in 01, I had HD channels included, what few there were.
I received a call telling me they wanted to upgrade my dish and receiver to a higher end HD set at No Charge because I have the MLB package and it is needed to receive all the satellite signals being used for HD viewing.
So with the new set installed, I see I'm getting blacked out of all the games' HD version channels. On top of that, I'm being billed now $10 (9.99) extra a month for HD access. When I call to see if possibly there is a mistake, I had confirmed what I already guessed.
1. There was no more HD included in packages and yes I needed to spend $9.99 a month now for HD viewing.
2. Nope, even though it's about $170 for the MLB package a season PLUS the now $120 year I'm paying for HD access, I still after all that, need to buy some stupid MLB superfan to get MLB in HD.
Plus on top of all that, the new receiver isn't even mine like the old one was. By reading all the hassles others have had posted here, I'm betting I'm stuck in some lease clause with this box as well.
So no charge upgrade now costs me $10 a month for the free HD MLB games -which aren't even in HD still. That would be more money.
It's a crying shame cable just doesn't have the sports packages or the dish industry isn't more competitive. I really have a problem with the perceived value I'm getting.
