Direct Merchants Bank Informative - Dishonest Credit Card Promtion
ARIZONA -- On October 13, 2003, I received a telephone call from a cheerful young lady who said she was calling from Direct Merchants Bank and that if I would accept a Direct Merchants Bank Master Card I would receive a $25 free gift. I listened to her spiel and gave her some personal information she requested. Five days later I received a letter from Direct Merchants Bank in Phoenix, AZ, saying I had been approved for the credit card and also included terms and conditions. In another two days,I received another letter saying that I should be receiving my new card in the next few days AND a statement that said that in connection my application I had ordered merchandise from BCS WIRELESS that would be charged to my new Direct Merchants Bank MasterCard. It included a number for me to call to cancel within 3 days or the amount (not given) would be charged to my account.I HAD NOT ORDERED ANYTHING!Immediately I called and cancelled the order for whatever it was and made another telephone call to tell Direct Merchants Bank that I did not want their card.In addition, I do not trust them and have written a letter to also request that I be removed from whatever lists they may have. I do not trust them because of this scam and even if I did trust them, after reading their terms and conditions, my opinion is Merchants Bank of Phoenix, Arizona, is one bank no one should do business with. When the credit card does come, it shall be destroyed pronto. And they can keep their gift. HA!
