Beaman Toyota Complaint - Beaman Toyota's Corporate Attitude??

Review by JayKT on 2008-04-21
NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE -- First off I want to say, what has actually happened with treating a customer like a customer in the car business??

It all started with a quote from Beaman regarding a 2008 Toyota Highlander Sport. After talking back and forth with a salesman I went down for a test drive. The salesman was not very talkative and not very informative. Two days later I came back to get my car appraised and to purchase the Highlander. Well I get there and the one I was going to purchase was already sold. The salesman had to find one 400 miles away and then would not give me the quoted price of the original one that I was going to purchase. I then got my car appraised by Beaman and they gave me a really low offer for my car. I was hoping to still buy a vehicle and was told I was going to pay $41,000 for a $29,000 vehicle. After almost 4 hours of negotiating and trying to work out a deal I ended up walking out. I have now found another local dealership that is not the largest dealership in the state of Tennessee but I will be buying from them this week just due to the personal attention by the salesman, sales and finance manager, general manager and the owner!

Don't fall into the Beaman trap just because they are the largest dealerships in the state. I will stay away from Beaman at all costs!!

Unfortunately, this type of treatment is "the way it is" at many larger, multi-franchise "dealer groups"...You are simply a number. If you do not buy, there is plenty of other customers to sell to--for now...Even the large dealers eventually learn...sometimes it is too late. Glad you found a good dealer to work with--there are a lot out there! Bigger is not necessarily better!

Congratulations on having the good sense to walk away from that dealer. Smaller dealers are often better to work with in regards to selling price and trade in value.
