ZoneAlarm Informative - Zone Alarm Put A Virus On My Computer

Review by tryfloating on 2008-04-23
After trying to remove the adware they stealthily installed along with a virus, with no success, I called to ask them to tell me how to remove their software from my computer. They were completely unhelpful, even hanging up the phone when I refused to give them my name and email, yeah like I'm going to give them that after they infected my computer with spyware... writing this as I am awaiting my spysweeper results to see if this nonsense has gone now.

I guess companies infect computers so you have to buy their program to remove it. Unlucky ZoneAlarm, I'm not buying.

You probably had your security settings set too low.

Use the Windows program remove then download ccleaner.com to finish cleaning up the mess in the registry and left over file fragments. Zone Alarm is one of the better applications. Just stay clear of the Norton products if you want to keep using your PC.

I have had good luck with McAfee. I have McAfee VirusScan Plus, Personal Firewall Plus, and McAfee Site Advisor by subscription...they constantly update my virus protection, and warn me of risky websites and links.

i love avg from grisoft.

to correct this issue, you could try setting back your computer to an earlier time.

if all else fails, there are a few online services that offer free cleanups form viruses and adware.

To remove trojans that your virus scanner don't take care of I use a program called "The Cleaner". To remove spyware I use "Adaware" To clean the temp files I use a program called "disk cleaner".I also use a program called "Tune up utilities", it speeds up my computer and also cleans out unwanted registry files that are no longer needed. It does alot of other stuff too.

'It does alot of other stuff too.'

(tander, I just can't resist it!) This 'stuff' it does, can it be discussed on a public forum? If not, maybe I'll look into it. :)
