McDonald's Corporation Complaint - Water
LAUREL, MARYLAND, MARYLAND -- Today I was on a field trip with some middle school students. On our trip back to school we stopped at McDonald's. Since I am on a restricted diet I ordered a Grilled Chicken Salad and a "a glass of water". I paid for my Chicken Salad and asked the cashier where my cup was for my water! She informed me that I would have to pay $1.00 for a small cup of "water." I was shocked! I gave her the dollar and she proceeded to get a cup, put ice in it, went somewhere (out of my eye sight) and finally came back with "A Small Cup of Water." Upon looking for my receipt I realized that I had not been given one. I returned to the counter and asked for a receipt for my water.
It was lunch time! They were busy! The girl, now, could not get the printer to print me a receipt. Just two minutes earlier the machine printed a receipt for my salad. She went and obtained another roll of paper -- waited on several other customers -- finally I ask to speak to a manager -- After approximately 8-10 minutes the manager said that she would have to write me a receipt. I inquired as to when this policy of paying for a cup of water went into affect. She pointed to a large sheet of paper on a cork bulletin board and said "approximately two months ago".
Is McDonald's so "hard up" that they can not give "paying customers" a glass of water? Normally you pay for water "ONLY" if it is bottled or there is a shortage.
I must say that this is not "American" and I hope I never get put in a position where I have to go into another McDonald's Resturant - EVER!
I have never - ever - had to pay for a cup of water, under normal circumstances, anywhere I have ever eaten.
To charge for a "Small Cup of Water" (not bottled water) and then not able to get it refilled is implausible.
