Holiday Inn Complaint - Overbooking and Unprofessional Service
PANAMA CITY BEACH, FLORIDA -- Dear Thomas R Oliver,
As a frequent user of your company, I feel obligated to share with you my experience.
We arrrived at the Holiday Inn Sunspree in Panama City Beach on April 4, 2001. We were told they overbooked the group we went through. In return they gave us two options 1)6 pitchers of beer a day, 6 free lunches a day, and a Panamaniac card ($30 value)and a hotel room in Days Inn 2) She said to take our things and go home and she will give us a refund. The Days Inn that we were sent to was not even close to the same quality or calliber of the Sunspree. In our conformation letter we were told we would have 2 queen beds and a queen size rollaway (to sleep a total of 6, a full size refirgerator and a microwave. The Days Inn had 2 double beds, no refrigerator or microwave, please note that this is a fire hazard. After discovering this we notified the Holiday Inn manager and told her this wasn't what we paid for and she was very rude. We had to beg her for a bigger room in the Days Inn. Also, the free beer and lunches weren't exactly free. The bar tenders and restaurant employees had no idea about the freebies. They even quit giving out free meals and lunches. Mrs. Valdez, the hotel revenue manager, gave us the cards for free lunch and beer and she didn't even check to see if everyone was 21 years old. We had one minor with us. Also, we had our own beer, we didn't need or want the Holiday Inn's. And what about the expenses for getting a cab back to the Days Inn. All the cost we incurred in moving in and out and cab fares far exceed the package she gave us. And by the way, the lunches got very old by the third day (4 items on the menu). Next, the Holiday Inn is where all the college students were staying, the most popular place and thats what we paid for and received a conformation letter for. Another complaint to be noted is a group of 6 girls were behind us in line and they cried and called their lawyers and consequentially they moved in to the Sunspree the next day. I understand that they were very busy, but the management was very unprofessional and unorganized during this process. At a reputable and high class hotel chain such as Holiday Inn you should be able to expect more.
To help keep me as a potential future customer, I would like the following:
We would like to see some monetary compensation or something to compensate us for all the extra moving in and out we had to do, the cab fares, and the time lost doing this and for not being able to stay at the Holiday Inn Sunspree.
At the very least I would like a response from your company regarding this incident.
