Comcast Corporation Complaint - Downgrading Difficulty
PORTLAND, OREGON -- Everything was fine with Comcast until I got a special offer which said that I just pay 1.70 more for HBO and Starz as well as increasing my bandwidth speed if I sign a 2 years contract for a flat fee of 115 dollars.
Prior to this, I was paying 114 dollars a month for HSI, DVR, Digital Plus, and extra IP address. Because of the special offer which was just 1.70 more for those services, I went ahead with this. When I called Comcast, I was told that because I have DVR, it is going to be 127 dollars plus taxes which will be around 133 dollars. I said to myself, oh what the heck, I can’t live without DVR. I was told that Comcast will mail me a contract which I must sign within 30 days.
After hanging up the call, the internet wasn’t working right. At first, I thought I might need to reboot the modem because it increased from 4 MBPS to 8 MBPS. One router was working, but other router wasn’t working which it has been going vice versa. My technical ability was that I suspected that Comcast took off extra IP address without asking me which I clearly told that I am keeping 2 IP addresses. My guts was correct when I called Comcast back and verified that it accidently took off one IP address, so it reinserted an extra IP. However, Comcast said it is going to cost me 140 dollars plus taxes which my wife SCREAMED NO! After hanging up the call, my wife and I discussed.
I called Comcast again and told that I want to cancel everything, but just keep HSI, basic cable, and extra IP address. Comcast begged me, but I went deaf. Comcast said I would need to call Retention Department on Sunday to confirm that I did not sign a contract which is fine with me.
Next morning on Sunday, I called Comcast which I tried to reach the “Retention” which turned out to be a bogus department, so the representative said that it will go ahead to downgrade in a few minutes, GOOD. However, Comcast did not downgrade since I still had HBO and Starz rest of Sunday.
Yesterday morning, I went to Comcast office and returned DVR back. I told that I just want HSI, basic cable, and extra IP address. Comcast tried to talk me in trying out 8 MBPS which I said no. I asked what is the new monthly rate which is 56 dollars and something. Okay, I returned back home and GUESS WHAT? My modem didn’t work which it went deactivated. I was brought to the Comcast screen which it wants to download craps of software to activate the modem. I called Comcast again and got it to activate. The excuse was that Comcast accidently deactivated my modem. I had to fix Windows Vista to remove this proxy that Comcast locked.
So far, things are back to normal, but Comcast is very difficult to deal with if you want to downgrade which I had to call Comcast 5 times and a visit to the office. That is my worst experience with Comcast
