Capitaland Motors Scotia NY Complaint - Buyer Beware - Auto Dealer

Review by missy13 on 2008-04-29
SCOTIA, NEW YORK -- They obtained a car I was interested in test driving from nj. After the test drive, I decided I wasn't interested. They charged my credit card $500, without my consent or knowledge, for the "privilege" of the test drive. They lied to the New York State's Attorney General's Office that they informed me thereof. Only an idiot would agree to such a transaction, and I do not fall into that category.

Stay away from that dealership at all costs. They're rip-off artists.

So how did they get your credit card number?

Wowser... $500 for a test drive! Good Googly Moogly!

This is the most uninformative post I have ever seen...How did you get from "I would like to test drive a car" to "YOU STOLE $500 from me!"

I'll reiterate Hugh's post, why did you give them a credit card then?

I think what happened was this person put a deposit on a car they liked after test driving it and then the financing fell through.

bargod: I think you're right - - never thought of that. $500 sounds about right for a deposit on a used car being brought in from another state.

They had my credit card info from a previous contract. While test driving the car, the engine cut out twice. On my way down a hill with no power, no brakes, as I was grinding the transmission into park, I thought, hmmmmm, this is not the car for me. I went to another dealer, by the way, and paid cash-not a financial problem.

Very unfortunate situation, indeed. Thanks for coming back on this site and clearing that up.
