Canon Complaint - Horrible experience with i9900
LIVERMORE, CALIFORNIA -- I have been buying Canon equipment for years - including several high-end DSLR cameras and several expensive printers. I finally decided to go for a very expensive i9900 printer. It worked okay for several months but then started to go bad. I never did get it to print correctly. Finally I tried to power it on and it will not power up.
Canon support gave me a "good luck" response since the printer is a little more than a year old. I went to a service center and found that the logic board is bad, and that this is a very well known problem with this printer. The cost of repair is close to the cost of buying a new one. Everyone I contacted had the same advice. Smash it up with a hammer and put it on Youtube.
I got about 20 good prints total and months and months of frustration followed by a dead printer. It is hard to believe that Canon produces such junk and will do nothing to stand behind it.
So I have finally given up on Canon. I am selling my Canon camera and lens and I'm switching to Nikon cameras ... and have to go buy a new printer. The i9900 is a great printer if it works, but don't count on it working for very long
