DirecTV Inc Complaint - Lack of Customer Service
WASHINGTON -- I have had 2 abortive attempts to upgrade to HD service through DirecTV. The first time, the installation company had to call and reschedule as they did not have the equipment available although I had scheduled over 2 weeks in advance, and taken time away from work to be there (they called me the morning of the scheduled install to inform me of this). Well, ok, I reschedule, and the guy they send to do the work has no idea what he is doing, and after taking more time from work, the equipment still is not installed. I call DirecTV, and I get the artificial "so sorry you had this experience" reply, with no offers to discount the install or equipment, or any other incentives to stay with them, even after I informed them I was highly motivated to seek other options.
Well, a few months later, I try again. Scheduled approximately a week out this time, and again, the same install company calls the morning they are supposed to be there, and tells me they don't have the equipment. This time, I called customer service and told them I would be calling Dish Network to switch my service. Again, no incentives offered to stay, just a take it or leave it attitude.
Now I am hooked up with Dish, and a few days go by, I get a charge on my credit card for the balance of the month's service, a charge I did not realize I had authorized them to make in the original service agreement I had signed several years ago. This was not made clear to me by the representative I spoke with when I cancelled my subscription.
I have now been emailing and talking with "service" reps to try and have my credit card info removed from their system, which I have been told in no uncertain terms that it cannot be done, and the last person I spoke with informed me there was no one higher than her that I could take this up with.
I do not trust this company to have my information in their system. I do not have anything good to say about their customer service. I would strongly encourage anyone looking for TV service to explore every alternative to DirecTV, as their apparent goal is only to sign folks up, not keep them as satisfied customers.
