Brashear House Bed Complaint - Unreliable Bed & Breakfast

Review by mary601 on 2008-05-06
KIRKSVILLE, MISSOURI -- In June 2007 I spoke with the Innkeeper of the Brashear House Bed & Breakfast in Kirksville, Missouri regarding reservations. I wanted to reserve rooms for graduation on May 9th & 10th, 2008. She informed me that for graduation she wanted the whole house reserved for Friday and Saturday. I told her that would not be a problem and gave her my contact information and credit card number. I asked for a confirmation number, but she said I didn't need one because she would remember. The house consisted of three bedrooms and a 4th they were trying to finish but she didn't know if it would be completed by graduation. Over the next months I spoke with her on "several occasions" regarding our arrival time, the status of the 4th room and other details. Then on Tuesday, May 6th I called again to confirm the details of our arrival on Friday, May 9th. She informed me that the house was no longer available because they had booked it for a wedding!

Now we are left with family coming from out of town with no where to stay. She did provide the name of a lodge 12 miles out of town off some gravel road in the woods that we could stay at, which is not acceptable.

I guess their prices changed in the year and the wedding party was more lucrative. Poor business practice by Brashear to not honor your reservation. Two thumbs down.

Go to the local Wal-Mart and buy some tents, hot dogs and stuff to make Smores. You might be surprised how much cheaper that is compared to the bed & breakfast. You could even buy Grandma a super soaker water gun and load her up on vodka. You know it'd be fun watching her squirt family members or stagger trying to.
