Qwest Complaint - Unjustified Charges - Customer Service
Resolution Update on 05/14/2008:
I have been assured that my account has been credited for the "new address service charge." So I expect the next bill to reflect that credit.
SEATTLE, WASHINGTON -- I have had the same phone number and address for forty years. Since I am a snowbird, I called about "vacation hold" and was told they didn't have it but have a "message service" instead. So I took it but then had to delay the start of the service a couple of days due to road closures. When I had no dial tone, I learned that the clerk I called just cancelled my phone service instead! I was on the phone for over an hour on a cell phone mostly "on hold" till the battery went dead trying to get the situation fixed with no results. Finally, I called from the neighbors and found someone who got it straightened out and cancelled the "cancel service" order. When I returned and had the regular service restored, I got a bill for "new service address". Unbelievable! Their screw-ups never end. I know that vacation holds do not incur additional charges and certainly would not have taken the message service if that was the case. I have received no answers or explanations from these clerks. I have called customer service several times asking to speak to a supervisor. Each clerk flatly refused to put me through. I have learned that it is a waste of time to talk to these clerks and I will not pay that bill.
I have contacted the Washington state attorney general's office and the BBB. I would like any suggestions anyone might have. I do want phone service and faster internet but obviously with another company. Any suggestions for a reasonable alternative would be appreciated. Qwest's "customer service" is the worst.
