United Parcel Service Complaint - Delivered Damaged Package
WESTLAKE, OHIO -- One of my co-workers completed a job out of town and shipped a piece of video equipment back to our office using a UPS Store in Escanaba, Michigan. The video equipment was enclosed in a case (similar to a suit case). The case was delivered to our office on 8/15/03 by our normal UPS delivery driver. At the time, he did not advise me that the case was damaged. I was not in the area when I signed for it. I tried filing a claim with UPS Customer Service on-line and even submitted photos of the crushed case. Thankfully, the contents were not harmed. We had gotten an estimate for a new case by another vendor in the sum of $185.00. UPS had us ship the damaged carton back to the UPS store who originally shipped it. We just received a notice from UPS that they would not do anything regarding the damages, they claimed that the packaging was insuffient! This is an outrage! So, if we would have shipped the carrying case in a box, would they have covered it then? This is unacceptable!
