Radio Shack Compliment - Excellent Customer Service
CASA GRANDE, ARIZONA -- This review must of necessity, be in two parts. Sort of a good news/bad news deal. This portion is the good news. I have nothing but praise for the local store, and the manager's actions in a recent case of having a piece of electronic equipment repaired.
On April 11, I took a Lafayette T4000 turntable to the local Radio Shack store. It needed a phono cartridge, and I asked if a missing foot could be fixed. I left a $20 deposit, and left.
Some time later, I received a phone call from the Service Center in Murray, UT to authorize the needed repair, I was quoted an estimate of $51 above the deposit, I said okay.
Later, I rec3eived a call from the local store that my turntable was back, When I went to pick it up, I was appalled. The dust cover was broken,
The turntable plate was off, and the tone arm was under the plate. There was a belt taped to the deck, and the counterweight for the tone arm had been taken off and was loose under the dust cover. I told the manager that I could not accept the turntable. I had left a professional style piece of equipment, and got back a jigsaw puzzle. He agreed and tried very hard to get the unit to work. He said he would send it back to the Service Center and see it was fixed. When I called the Service Center, I was given a runaround.
The manager of the local store went to bat for me, and when the Service Center said the unit was not repairable, he cleared the way and got approval for my turntable to be replaced by a new unit at no charge to me. He had personally packaged my turntable originally for the trip to the Service Center, and all through the entire process was very helpful and it was like the unit was his, from the way that he went out of his way to make the situation right. He has restored my faith in business people.
