Express Car Rentals Compliment - Finally An Alternative To The Rest

Well this review is about a horrendous car rental experience I had last year, only to be saved by a company that previously I'd never even heard of.

Last June I booked a holiday in Canada for 3 weeks, I had booked car rental for 17 days of my time there and because we booked an all-in holiday, the travel agent we used booked our car rental with Avis, which at the time we were ok with. Upon collecting our car from the rental office, we were greeted with the most horrendous attitude from the rental agent who seemed to care less about us or anything else for that matter!. We were supposed to be getting an economy car and instead were offered nothing but a compact car, which wasn't even big enough for all of us. The attitude of the agent at the office was that they really couldn't care less that the vehicle we were supposed to be getting wasn't even available, and they refused to offer any kind of refund for a mistake that was squarely theirs.

Well after many phone calls to their head office, many complaints by us regarding the attitude and situation we had found ourselves in, Avis refused totally to refund even a partial sum of the rental deposit we had paid. Disgusted as we were at the time, we simply couldn't wait for a solution, as our holiday time was pre-planned and booked, so we decided instead to find an alternative rental company to solve the issue we had found ourselves in. We went online and browsed through the available "familiars" of car rental until we came across a company called 'Expresscarentals'. I'd never heard of them before, but at the time, I was desperate for a solution and a rental so I booked the car rental again with them.

The company seem to be an agent for all the familiar car rental agencies, but instead just offering lower prices than buying direct from the "familiars" themselves. We found that once we completed our booking, that we would be collecting our car from National. So the next day we went to the National office and WOW what a change! the agents there we terrific, they knew of our booking, even though we had booked through an separate online agent in Expresscarentals, The National staff were well aware of our booking, the gave us a free upgrade without us even asking for one. We contacted Expresscarentals via their site to say a huge thank you before we even set off again on the rest of our holiday. They were truly great, the even gave us detailed directions on where we were going, told us of notable attractions along our route, and even told us the weekly weather report for the time we were there! truly amazing service for a company that before this trip I'd never even heard of!

I think in my own opinion, that it just goes to show in my experience from this trip, that sometimes, the bigger the company doesn't always mean "you get what you pay for".
