24 Hour Fitness Complaint - 24-Hour "I don't care."
AUSTIN, TEXAS -- This company has serious problems with customer service. Since I had my own experience, which I relate below, I researched and found numerous people with the same complaint.
Basically, I signed up for automatic debit from my account for my monthly fees. I opened my membership with the standard 1st and last month fee. I received a call in April saying my account was past due. I talked to the lady and told her that my account was automatic debit, so if they had taken out 30 on the 10th like we agreed, my account should not be past due. She had me hold for a minute to take a closer look. She got back on the phone and apologized saying that, indeed, my account was current. My next fee of 30 dollars would be deducted on the 10 of May.
The 10th of May comes and my account is debited 94 dollars. (I am in the process of trying to move to attend grad school and my account is now in misery, and I may not be able to go to grad school). When I called and talked to a manager, she basically told me, "sorry, the paperwork covers us legally and you're just one person." To top it off, when I said I wanted my account closed, she said fine but no refund on my last month's fee I already paid. So instead of good customer service, I was charged for a month for which I am not even a member. She assured me the paperwork covered this as well.
So, in conclusion:
