Target Complaint - Returning/Exchanging Baby Registry Items
MOORESVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA -- My sister is 8 months pregnant with her first child, and her friends and family were so excited for her and my brother-in-law that she was actually given 3 large baby showers. Of all the hundreds of dollars worth of products that she registered for at Target, she came in to exchange only two small items. The Munchkin wipe warmer that the received was visibly broken when she opened it at her shower and needed to be replaced. Yet without a receipt, she was told that Target would neither return nor exchange either product for any reason. These items were clearly marked with product tags and they had been purchased off her baby registry recently. My sister said that the Target employees were so ugly to her that she will never shop at Target again. This is saying something since both she and my mother shop at Target weekly (to avoid the long lines and lesser quality of some Walmart products) and since Babies-R-Us is about 30-45 min away.
Apparently Babies-R-US had no problem with allowing her to exchange products without a receipt, and neither did Walmart even though she wasn't even registered there. I'm horrified that Target treats their loyal customers in this way. In particular pregnant women are a customer that they should appreciate, as it is likely that there will be many future purchases(baby products, toys, groceries, etc). Target has certainly lost our business, and I can assure you that every person we know will be told how they treated my sister. Even though Babies-R-Us is a farther drive, we'll all use the gas to give business to a company that appreciates their customers.
Target once filled a niche for customers who wanted better quality and more variety than Walmart; but all customers appreciate respect, and Target is clearly lacking this quality.
