Dodsons Moving Complaint - Damaged & Stolen Goods In Storage

Review by harry51 on 2008-05-16
KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE -- As we were going overseas we put our household lot in storage. While loading the truck a staff member dropped our Television and it smashed. The driver & foreman apologized and said the company would pay for the negligence. 2 years later our goods are returned and there are items gone and damages. It took them 6 weeks to look, then after lodging a claim it took 90 days and we get a cheque for $331 for a claim of $1200. A new racing bike worth $130 we got $21. For a lost wheelbarrow $12 and for the TV smashed $27. They say its covered by 60cents per pound weight and they get to set the weight.

The owner would not meet with me to discuss and said things that were not acceptable. Do not use Dodsons Moving and storage who are the Atlas Interstate agent

Sixty cents a pound is the standard limit of liability for household goods movers. Did they not offer you additional insurance coverage? Usually they give the hard sell on the additional insurance because the base coverage is so poor. Check all your papers from when you put everything in storage and see if you bought extra coverage.

Barring that, check with your insurance agent to see if your homeowner's policy offers any protection.
