Western Digital Informative - USB drive port broke after very light use - I can't access my data!

JERSEY CITY, NEW JERSEY -- I don't know who put this thing together but the port where you plug in the USB cable fell apart inside the case. I hardly ever used this drive, and it has never left my home office. It certainly was not abused. And I do have a lot of data I need backed up on it.

How many USB ports are on your computer? Most PC have 2 ports in the front and 4 ports in the back. Why cannot you use the other ports available?

I misread the complaint. The poster is referring to the USB port on the external drive and not on the computer. If you really want to retrieve your data, get a hard drive enclosure and transfer the hard drive into the hard drive enclosure.

If you carefully open the drive case, you will probably find that a loose screw has allowed the port to shift out of alignment. It is probably an easy fix.
